The answer to the above question, asked by my Daughter, is…

  1.  NO, I am not screening my phone calls.
  2. As to why I don’t answer my phone every time it rings, is this…

I have been, occasionally, placing my phone on SILENCE.  MY reasons for doing this are:

  1. There are times when I am busy.
  2. I have decided there are times when it is rude and un-necessary to answer my phone in the presence of others.
  3. Sometimes I just need the SILENCE

Here are some of my Cell Phone Etiquette rules, and, I am really trying to put them into practice:

  1. I Think of my cell phone as an emergency device. Call me, if you are sick, have a significant loss of blood, you have sustained a broken body part, or (if you are one of my children), you have temporarily mis-placed one of my Grand-Babes.
  2. I Think of my phone as an answering machine.  If you call me with one of the above emergencies, and I don’t answer you back ASAP, continue to call and leave messages.  Or, text me.  If you have not heard back from me, within two days, call Poppy’s (my Hubby~our Grand-babes call him Poppy~come to think of it, our kids do too) cell phone.  This may not always work, as Poppy seems to lose his phone quite often.  Anyway, I will eventually answer you unless I have sustained one of the emergencies above.
  3. Places that I should not be answering my phone, in the first place…
  • Church ~ God may call me there, but I don’t think He will be using ’Verizon ‘Wireless!
  • During a meal ~ Whether it is in my own home, my families homes or a restaurant.  I have seen everyone at one table in a restaurant talking on their cell phones before~~really?  How rude is that?  Or, maybe they don’t care?  Maybe they come to that particular restaurant just to talk on their cell phones?
  • While in a theatre, concert or in a meeting
  • Definitely ~ Not in my car
  • On an airplane ~ OBEY the rules
  • When I am speaking to a person face-to-face

I have to admit, I have done some of the above (not the Church or airplane!).  Haven’t we all?

I guess that’s all I have to say on the subject.  Gotta go.  My cell phone is ringing~not really!
