An Internal Practice ~ We Develop Clarity In Stillness
Practice (as a verb): Perform (an activity) or exercise (a skill) repeatedly or regularly in order to improve or maintain one’s proficiency.
Develop (as a verb): Grow or cause to grow and become more mature.
Clarity (as in “What is God trying to say to me?” or, “God I simply want a little help in understanding what you are saying to me?”): God’s whispers to us are beautiful expressions of His Holy Spirit speaking to us. Understanding what God is whispering to us requires listening, patience and a willingness to learn (as in the Holy Spirit saying, “Let me make this perfectly clear, transparent and understandable to you~for this to happen, you must be…)
…Still (as in stillness): Devoid or abstaining from motion; quiet, calm or tranquil.
I believe with all my heart that God’s Holy Spirit speaks to us at “Any Given Moments”. Hearing is a developed discipline. Whether or not we act upon the Holy Spirit’s instruction is a choice we have to make. He speaks to us in our stillness, and He speaks to us at a moments notice in our daily comings and goings.
Answer this question. What are your emotions, or gut feelings, when the Holy Spirit is prompting you to do or say something, in your daily comings and goings?
For Me, when I hear the Holy Spirit, in my daily comings and goings, prompting me to act upon what He is saying to me…
I feel this sense of urgency to say something that is on my heart, or give of myself in some way. I feel I will burst, if I don’t act! And, I will regret it, if I do not act! I can think of times when I did what the Holy Spirit asked me to do, and I can think of times when I did not do what He asked me to do.
Answer this question. What are your emotions, or gut feelings, when the Holy Spirit speaks to you when you are silent, still or yearning? These are those times when you are awakened from your sleep, or sitting on your deck enjoying the wild flowers in the prairie grass field and listening to the morning song of the birds, or sobbing on your son’s bed, (in God’s silence) and gazing at your son’s Bible Drill awards because he has left to go live with his biological father and living a worldly life, or pondering the Word of God. I think you get the picture!
For me, when I am silent and quieted or when I am sobbing (in God’s silence), God’s Holy Spirit is speaking to me on a deeper level. He may be prompting me to do something, but it is more of a work within me. Not that I still don’t feel that sense of urgency sometimes, but, that He has said to me…
“I want you to ponder My inspired writings of Hosea, because I want you to understand how deep my love is for you. I opened all of those doors for you because that was the time in your life~for you to walk through those doors to serve. I want you to remember that “My Word I hid in your son’s heart so that he might remember them and find his way back to me”. I want you to listen to the morning song of the birds as you enjoy the daisys dancing in the breeze, so that your senses will be filled with My presence. I want your life to become simple enough, so that you might retire with your Hubby to enjoy the time I am giving you together. I want you to spend time with Me, so that you might deepen your relationship with Me. I want you to enjoy the silence with me, so that My Will is perfectly clear to you~because you will still have other adventures with Me. Tranquil does not always mean that your world will be tranquil, but that I Am your tranquil spirit within any circumstance. Silence brings My deeper work within you, and helps you to bring it ALL back down to Me!”
To Ponder: From my Butterfly Bible Study “Journey Into God’s Love~A 16 Day Journey Into God’s Deep Love For Us, Through The Book of Hosea and Christmas~The Best Gift Ever! page 39
“Since I became a Christian, I’ve spent a lot of time ‘taking notes’ about sermons I’ve heard, thoughts from my prayer time and time spent in the Word. But, recently I’ve become a journaler. There is such a difference between taking notes and journaling. Taking notes is writing down an explanation of what you’ve heard or read. Journaling is a record of experiences, ideas and heart-felt reflections. The same is true in our relationship (Our Treasure) with Christ. Our explanation of what we think we know of Christ is very different from our experiences, ideas and heart-felt reflections of Christ. And we can only express and exhibit the latter by placing the highest of value on Him. Our Treasure is Christ.”
Questions to Ponder: Are we note takers, or journalers? Are we explainers, or experiencers? Are we dreamers and explainers of the tranquil stillness and clarity of God, or are we experiencers of that tranquil stillness and clarity of God?
