God’s Gift of Grace

The picture you see is my God’s Gift of Grace box, used for teaching purposes and as a reminder of God’s Words of promise and hope to me in Psalm 103.  This gift box has been in my life for many years, just as God’s Words of promise and hope have.

Within my God’s gift of Grace box are many treasures.  My gift box is full of illustrative treasures, such as His healing for me, His crown of love and compassion for me, His good things to satisfy my desires and even my very own special measure of strength, as needed.  The benefits of my treasures are beyond measure.

At the center of my God’s gift of Grace box is, always, God’s forgiveness and redemption.  You can search, and search, and search inside my homemade gift box and you will not find anything visual to illustrate God’s forgiveness and redemption.  Simply because, God and the Grace of His sacrifice that was made on the Cross through Jesus Christ~His Son is…

Unfathomable ~ His understanding no one can fathom ~ Isaiah 40:28

Unsearchable ~ Oh, the depth of the riches of His wisdom and knowledge ~ Romans 11:33

Eternal, Immortal and Invisible ~ Now to My King, eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever, and ever ~ 1 Timothy 1:17

Yet, as the Daughter of My King, I am invited to come boldly, just as I am, to the throne of My gracious God and King to receive mercy and find grace to help me when I need it. (Hebrews 4:16)

As I am journeying  through My King~His Daughter and this week of the Passion of My Christ, I come with a bold and new heartfelt thought.  I invite you to ponder with me…

Thought to Ponder:  I make this new commitment to My king to carry my passion for what I so lovingly call Easter Sunday ~ into my daily life and celebrate the foundation of my belief that I serve a risen Lord ~ not just one Sunday a year, but every day, and every Sunday morning when I walk into my home of worship.  For this truly is the foundation of what I believe, with all my heart ~ I Serve A Risen Lord and King!

God whispers to me, …praise me with your soul and praise my holy name.  Forget not all your benefits, as my Daughter.  I forgive all your sins and heal all your diseases.  I have redeemed your life from the pit and have crowned you with love and compassion.  I satisfy your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s wings.  Accept my compassion and graciousness.  I will never treat you as your sins deserve, nor repay you according to your iniquities.  For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is my love for you when you fear me.  As far as the east is from the west, I have removed your transgressions from you by the sacrifice of my Son Jesus Christ, your risen Lord and King! The Great Commission

Matthew 28: 16-20

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’

This is scroll number 6 in my series, My King ~ His Daughter.  It is the largest of the scrolls, that include Scripture~The Great Commission, and hangs on the wall in our dining room.

Fishers of Men ~ My Great Commission

As always, as I bathe the Scripture in prayer, My King places many things in my heart and my thoughts.  I can think of many explanations and/or definitions of the phrase, Fishers of Men.  In my search for meaning, I have also found several resources that offer explanation.

• The idea behind fishing is to know the fish you are looking for and attract it so you can make the catch.  To catch the fish we must know what equipment to use, the habitat and depth of the water we are fishing in, as well as the kind of bait the fish will go after…Just as we need equipment to be fishermen, we need equipment to be fishers of men. Putting on the armor of God is one way to be ready at all times with everything we need (Ephesians 6:10-18). ~ resource from gotquestions.org.
• The fisherman in his own craft is intelligent and watchful.  It looks very easy, I dare say, to be a fisherman, but you would find that it was no child’s play if you were to take a real part in it…The fisherman is a very laborious person.  It is not an easy calling.  He does not sit in an armchair and catch fish.  He has to go out in rough weathers…If we never do any work for Christ except when we feel up to the mark, we shall not do much.  If we feel that we will not pray because we cannot pray, we shall never pray…The fisherman is a daring man.  He tempts the boisterous sea…So the true minister of Christ who fishes for souls will never mind a little risk.  He will be bound to do or say many a thing that is very unpopular; and some Christian people may even judge his utterances to be too severe.  He must do and say that which is for the good of souls. ~ Spurgeon
• Fishers of Men is a soul saving work. ~ David Riggs

Many men have much to say on the subject of Fishers of Men.  This is what My King has placed in my heart and mind today.  The secret to becoming His Fisher of Men is not in trying harder, but in training consistency.  My training is not about me, but with the object of my training ~ which is Jesus Christ.  It is Christ who continually transforms my walk, and deepens my training.  As I become His Constant Companion ~ He Becomes My Constant Trainer ~ filing my ordinary world with fresh meaning, hope, change, challenge and joy as I continue His Soul Saving Work (within His boundaries for me) of…

•  Making Disciples
•  Baptizing Them In The Name Of The Father And Of The Son And Of The Holy Spirit
•  Teaching Them To Obey Everything He Has Commanded

As I continue in becoming His Constant Companion, and He Becomes My Constant Trainer I understand more and more of the heart of My King and the seriousness of what He is daily training this ordinary person to do.

This is the Urgency of Our Great Commission~Fishers of Men, From a couple of woman who know/knew it well:

Bathe-ing The Scripture In Prayer

Matthew 4:18-20

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew.  They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.  Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men.  At once they left their nets and followed him.

This is scroll number 5, in my series of beautiful hand painted, in water-color, Asian Scrolls that hang on the walls in our home.  As I bathe the Scripture in prayer, that is so lovingly painted on the scroll by our friend, I am ever reminded, by the artwork, that ones interpretation of God’s Word is crucial to ones soul and quality of this earthly Christian life.

Read My Prayer ~ Father, I REALLY Need Your Help With This One

When Christ calls us by his grace we ought not only to remember what we are, but we ought also to think of what he can make us.  It is, Follow, and I will make you.  We should repent of what we have been, but rejoice in what we may be.  It is not, Follow Me because of what you are already.  It is not, Follow Me, because you make something of yourselves; but, Follow Me, because of what I will make you.  …It did not seem a likely thing that lowly fishermen would develop into apostles; that men so handy with the net would be quite as much at home in preaching sermons and instructing converts. ~Spurgeon 

As I think about what it means to Follow Christ, I am humbled by the simplicity vs. the complexity of FOLLOW ME!  On one hand, FOLLOW ME is the most simply direct of commands by our Lord.  On the other hand, FOLLOW ME is everything but simple.

If you read my prayer, above, you will find that FOLLOW ME has caused my soul to feel the need for God to take everything captive within me that would stand in the way of my following Him completely, in this new season of my life.

Always, with God, it comes down to matters of the heart.  This is where we all come down to the same level.  We must leave all of our accomplishments, training classes and successes on the bank of the sea as we step into the boat to FOLLOW Christ.  For the great training school of the Master requires us to learn of Him, as we study the Word, spend time in prayer and silence with Him, and separate ourselves unto Him only.  If you read my last post, My King ~ His Daughter, Grasp And Entertain Your Soul’s Desire, I stated that My Soul’s Desire is to be the Constant Companion of Christ.

As The Daughter of My King I see, through the lives of His Disciples, a clear portrait of FOLLOW ME~Be My Constant Companion.  The Disciples…

• Abided/lived with Him~Everyday the Disciples were associating with My King.
• Heard Him teach publicly and received personal teaching through private tutoring from My King~The Disciples must have been great listeners and retainers of My King’s words and thoughts.
• Were Friends with My King~The Disciples were called friends, by My King
• Became Prayer Warriors with My King~The Disciples witnessed my King pray in private, heard His prayers and listened to Him pray for them and others and learned to pray, from Him.
• Were Witnesses to Miracles~The Disciples witnessed My King’s Miraculous intervention in many lives, so that they might believe.
• Witnessed persecution and sorrow~The Disciples were with My King through persecution, they saw His tears and even His most secret of agony.
• Learned of Passion, Compassion and a Servant’s Heart~The Disciples were there to witness first hand My King’s passion and compassion of soul. They sat and feasted at the table with Him, and even had their feet washed by Him. So INCREDIBLE!

The Disciples were CONSTANT COMPANIONS of My King

This is how we learn to FOLLOW HIM.  The experience that the Disciples had with My King is priceless and matchless.  It is no wonder they became great preachers and became very skillful in converting the lost.  But, we should remember that today, His spiritual power may be known to us if we choose to answer the call to FOLLOW HIM.  We simply follow the portrait that the first Disciples painted for us, and He Will Make Us Fishers of Men.

The Disciples Abided So Closely to My King, They Caught His Spirit,

Thus, Learning To Be Fishers of Men

We too, May Learn To Become Fishers of Men.  Perhaps, not in the same way, but by way of the same King~by Becoming His Constant Companion!

Special Notes To Self: On one hand… Simply Do, is not always the Easy Do!  The Disciples were not wishy washy FOLLOWERS!  It’s best not to sit on the fence, choose which side to stand on!  I doubt the words tolerate or let’s ignore this, rolled off of My King’s, or the Disciple’s, tongue very often!  On the other hand… I can do all things through Him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13)!  Simply Do, is the Best Do!

God whispers to me, “I will answer your prayer, for you are learning to sacrifice a contrite heart to me, which I love.  I have heard you, My Daughter!” Psalms 51:17

God whispers to me, “I know the thoughts I have toward you! Know them well, because it is your destiny. Just continue to deepen your ‘FOLLOW ME’! The best is yet to come. Embrace your second calling~this season is YOUR SEASON!” Jeremiah 29:11 and MORE!

God whispers to me (through the writings of another~Click Here Soul Simple~Thankyou Amy for bringing Philippians 3:12 to my mind), “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”

Bathe-ing The Scripture In Prayer

Psalms 42:1-5

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My Soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When can I go and meet with God?  My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, ‘Where is your God’?  These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.  Why are you downcast, O my soul?  Why so disturbed within me?  Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Grasp And Entertain Your Soul’s Desire 

To Grasp: To take hold of or seize firmly; comprehend; to contemplate to show eager and prompt willingness or acceptance and to embrace.

To Entertain: To extend hospitality toward; to consider; to hold in mind; to continue with; to give admittance and to receive.

Do you ever feel like your King is up to something?  Do you ever feel like he’s doing some prep work?  As I bathe the aforementioned Scripture in prayer, I can’t help but feel like MY KING is preparing me, for this season of my life.  I also feel that he is truly giving me what I’ve asked for.  I have asked for confirmation of what my heart has been saying to me, for many months.  I’ve asked for confirmation, as His Daughter and as a woman who is actively embracing this season of life, that life is to be lived in regard to who I am and not what I do.  I have asked for confirmation that I am not defined by my performance, but by the condition and depth of my heart and soul.  I have asked for confirmation that what I do reflects the value I place on my priorities, which are my relationships.

My life is not about re-thinking my priorities and categorizing them. For me, my life is about the VALUE I place on my priorities~which for me are my relationships~with my Lord~my King, my Hubby, my family, my friends and those whom my Lord places in my path on a daily basis!  All that I DO will REFLECT the VALUE I place on my priorities ~quote by Pamela Matlock Mosher

My Soul’s Desire

As I bathe the whole of Psalms 42 in prayer I begin to grasp my soul’s desire.  Clearly, this poetic writing is penned by one who is crying out to God, longing for the renewal and re-formation of His presence.  Yet, the writer (probably King David) is standing fast in faith of the living God.  He pours out his soul to God, remembering and requesting his soul to place hope only in God.  And Even though he is struggling, he will praise God who is his Savior.  He holds firmly to his soul’s desire and continues to find his hope in God!

I too, cry out to God!  My soul’s desire is to grasp the value of the presence of My King.  I will entertain the presence of My King.  In my e-book, The Disciple, I was introduced to and continue to ponder…

Psalms 91:1-2

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Dwell In The Shelter Of Your King

This scroll is presently hanging in a corner, not seen by many, of our family room.  I think I will move it to my office where I can see it everyday, as I sit at my desk. It’s amazing how the Lord leads us specifically when we come to him, in earnest, to nurture and deepen our relationship with Him. This scroll is number three, of six, that we have hanging in our home.  It is smaller than the others, but bears a most powerful passage of scripture.  I have made it a point, to ask the Lord to lead me in the placement of the scrolls in My King ~ His Daughter posts.  This one has truly captured my heart!  It has caused me to confirm a very important aspect of my position as My King’s Daughter.  This is to yield my will to His protection over me, to place myself under His authority, and to dwell moment by moment under His protection. Only then, can I move on to effectively serve My King.

• Yield My Will
• Place Myself Under His Authority
• Dwell Moment by Moment Under His Protection

Psalm 91 is a beautiful acknowledgment of gratitude, by the psalmist, of The Lord’s protection over us.  It causes my soul to be at peace, and I rest assured of His love for me as I submit to the will of My King who desires to protect me.  I find myself un-afraid to place myself under His authority.  I am reminded of one of my favorite passages of Scripture, because of the insight I received into the Spiritual Discipline of Submission Unto The Lord (and, As Unto The Lord).

“…be submissive to your husbands, so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.  Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.  Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.  For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful.  There were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master.  Your are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.“  1 Peter 3:1-6 

I anticipate the security of dwelling moment by moment under His protection, as I rest quietly in wait for His direction in my life.  I eagerly await further instruction.

Does My King Protect Me? Yes!

• If I dwell in His shelter, I will rest in His Shadow ~ of His Almighty presence in my life! Psalms 91:1
• If I make the Most High my dwelling, no harm will befall me and no disaster will come to my tent! Psalms 91:10
• He will command his angels concerning me to guard me in all my ways, and they will lift me up in their hands so that I will not strike my foot against a stone! Psalms 91:11
• If I acknowledge His Name, because He loves me, He will rescue and protect me! Psalms 91:14
• If I call upon Him, He will answer, be with me in trouble and deliver me and honor me! Psalms 91:15
• Finally, He will satisfy me with long life and show me His salvation! Psalms 91:16

I find all of the above, amazing and awesome!  Don’t You!  Not a question, but a statement!

God whispers to me, “Every word from Me is flawless.  I am your shield when you take refuge in Me.” Proverbs 30:5

God whispers to me, “Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate you from My Love that is in Christ Jesus, your Lord.” Romans 8:39

God whispers to me, “…I say, never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. You are able to say, with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” Hebrews 13:5-6
