There is no greater joy for us, as Moms and Grannys (or whatever your grand-children choose to call you), than when we witness our Children and Grand-babes serving The Lord within their own personal committment to Him.

If you read my first Soul Simple post, you will remember that this year is one of re-formation of relationship for me.  I have chosen to embrace this season of my life, anticipating and expecting the Lord’s will and path.  I am placing myself before The Lord with a teachable spirit.  I am also watching, listening and learning from those closest to me so that I might be reminded that the most simple acts of kindness and obedience can give someone a glimpse of hope or put a smile on their face.  It is a Love Change, not only for me, but for those on the receiving end of the kindness and obedience that I am witnessing.  What I am seeing is truly a testimony to the Love Of Christ in the hearts of my family.  I am seeing the fruits of teaching my children to give and serve others being passed on to my Grand-babes.  It is one of the blessings and great joys of my life.

My two Grand-daughters amaze me sometimes.  They have Simply Servants Hearts on fire to serve and give.  They have been encouraged by their Pastor to raise money for missions, so I have to tell you how they have chosen to do this.  J and S decided that it would be a great idea to bake and sell cookies to raise money.  They have taken orders for the cookies, and plan to deliver them next week.  J was so excited last night when she called to tell me what she and S were doing.  They have taken orders for:

• 33 dozen cookies, which translates into…
• 396 cookies @ $5.00 per dozen, which translates into…
• $165.00, which translates into…
• 990 inches long, if you lay 396 average size cookies out in a row, it translates into…
• 82 feet of sugar, chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies, which translates into…
• 2 feet short of a High School basketball court

This may not seem like much to some, but considering that other kids in J and S’s Church are also being encouraged to raise money for missions…many Simply Servants Hearts on fire to serve and give translates into much!

My Soul ~ That deepest part of me.  My sense of identity found in Christ.  My forever connection to My Father, for all eternity.

Simple ~ As an adjective: Exhibiting child like simplicity and credulity (a readiness or willingness to believe and TO BE).

In the midst of God’s Gift, to me, of a more simple and less stressful life is the desire of my soul, for simplicity.  For me, The Fruits of Simplicity are…

• Freedom
• Joy
• Peace
• Honesty, and
• Balance

I began to think about “Soul Simple” a few weeks ago, while with my oldest Grand-Son.  Avery and I had been in a popular bookstore, just browsing and having some quality Granny and Grand-babe time.  As we were leaving the bookstore, Avery held the door open for me.  When I glanced behind me, I noticed that Avery was still patiently holding the door open.  He had noticed an elderly couple.  The woman was in a wheelchair and her husband was trying to hold the door open while pushing the wheelchair.  Avery had stayed behind to hold the door open for the couple.  As I watched, I could see the man and woman with these huge smiles on their faces, as they thanked Avery.  I wondered if Avery understood the magnitude of his simple and intentional act of kindness. From that moment, I decided to make the observation of my Grand-babes a part of my 2012 Resolute Focus.  I am watching them, studying their simplicity of life and their tender hearts show up in their actions.

For me, simplicity of soul is re-forming what I already know to be true and re-establishing the Lord’s authority in my life.  It is finding that place of rest and reflection through spending time with Him through prayer and saturating my heart with His word.  It is watching my Grand-babes as they learn about the basics of who Christ is and sharing the love of Christ through their simple acts of kindness.

My Hubby and I have been reading a daily devotional together~Jesus Calling, Finding Peace In His Presence by Sarah Young.  Our January 1st reading was about Coming To Jesus with a teachable spirit.  I have been watching, listening and learning not only from coming to Jesus with a teachable spirit, but from those closest to me. I have been reminded that the simplest of things can give someone a glimpse of hope or put a huge smile on the their face.
